[OT] Microsoft to quit web browsers for Mac

To continue this thread a little further, how does one connect to a ftp 
site with Safari?

In IE all you have to do is type in ftp://etc, and a page opens up.  
With the 'Go' menu or typing this in the address bar of Safari, 
sometimes a disk image mounts, but invariably the contents are empty.

So until I figure this one out, I am stuck keeping IE around, or using 
Fetch.
