I think "non-starter" is a bit strong !
I would agree that there are several functions that can be - need to
be - improved.
But in the very vast majority of cases, SDafari is fine.

Book marks (as you mention above) is certainly one area that could be
improved. I have a lot of book marks.
The management of them - alphabetical ordering is a simple example -
co;ld be improved.
'Remove duplicates' would be a valuable function, especially twhen
one has imported countless bookmarks from all the other browsers....

Perhaps I feel that the trackpad is part of my hand, so I never
noticed this, as I do it automatically.
There are certain sites (EasyJet.com, where I book a lot of flights)
where Safari does not funciton as well as IE (eg selection of
departure cities: in IE, merely typing G gets me to Geneva, whereas
in Safari, I have to scroll down. )

For me, these are not missing features, they are items on the "to
improve" list.
I value the speed a lot. I use Camino as my Plan B, IE 523 if I have to.
