Learning the terminal as such is pretty trivial. What you want to
learn is unix. In particular use of the C shell, "csh". Pick up any
unix book, and you'll learn enough to get you going. There are no
good books yet about the specific unix that apple uses (Darwin) and
how it differs from other unices.
There is an x-unix mailing list specifically about unix as it
pertains to Apple. (One of the participants is writing a book for
people just like you.)
