With the AppleDouble setting, nobody on the receiving end has problems with attachment formats. AD is the recommended MIME type for sending to mixed format recipients, although they still include the UUencode data fork [only] as an option. Between that, and being in the habit of using extensions all the time, which is made easier with the global "Always Show File Extensions" setting in OSX, there's really no reason to worry about which box is on the other end. Mail.app, which looks like a 'lean' version of PowerMail, or SquirrelMail, to me, seems pathetically bereft of features, customization, etc. ~flipper
