[OT] iPod -> Windows?

Quick question for someone who might know: I have a 5 Gb iPod 
(original iPod) which I want to pass on to a family member who has 
yet to see the light and uses a PeeCee.

Can the older iPod be adapted for use with a PC? If so, where do I 
get the software?
