Where are these fonts that are problematic located? My slow startup 
problems was traced back to fonts as well. Font Doctor X was 
recommended by the tech list: 
<http://www.morrisonsoftdesign.com/fd_mac.html> There is a free demo 
that will identify problems but not repair them.
