Peter - a benefit of your response was that you introduced me to MemoryStick.
I was not aware of this freeware, available at
<http://pages.sbcglobal.net/mattneub/downloads/MemoryStick%20Installer.dmg.gz>
It is very helpful to me, to see the memory response to my pattern of
application use.
One day on, I definitely have the feel that the memory is better managed.
Clear desktop still works well.
