Well, not quite like that ;-) However, I experienced quite a scare yesterday when I came home from work. As usual, I went over to my Ti, which I always leave on in sleep mode when I'm not working on it, and lifted the screen. The screen remained black - not coming out of sleep - and then some really loud bleeps and static began blaring from the powerbook. I immediately unplugged the power cord. Bleeps didn't stop. Screen remained black. I unlatched the battery. Bleeps stopped. This whole incident went on for a mere 10-15 seconds. An eternity in bleepland. It smelled like burnt plastic all over my apartment. Moreover, there was thin smoke as well! Product liability issue? I chilled out for a couple of minutes. Then tried to restart from the main power button. Nothing = heart in throat! I plugged the power cord in. Hit power button. We have restart! Panther seemed to boot fine. However, there were a couple of things wrong. The date was December 31, 1969!! Airport card was not even being recognized. I lost all Airport functionality. Among other things, the Ti will not start from the battery. The power cord must be plugged in. I haven't run any diagnostics beyond this. Has ANYONE ever come across this type of problem. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Mo __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
