It's not a big problem at all, just that some BSD boxes note that two
different MAC addresses keep advertising the same IP address over and
over again...

Oh, there most certainly are. However, I have a weak spot for fun
little behind-the-scenes toggles and switches that are generally
unknown, and my curiosity was by far the motivating factor in actually
asking the question :-)
