Thanks for everybody's comments.

I think, unless I can find some sort of deal I'll go for a non-Apple 
wireless station: the ease of setup is not probably worth the 
difference in price. And for the modem, as noted by Dave, if the 
connection goes down I'd probably use the telephone trying to contact 
the cable company...
Though the Ti500 supports only the B, I guess I'll take anyway an 
802.11g (the iMac is a 1GHz model),
