I also assume you tried a variety of FW devices.

With no FW in OS 9 you need to look at the fact that you lost your FW port.
Caused by a power surge back to your port. Apple didn't protect the ports
properly until later versions of the Ti.

There are many emails in the archives about this.

You're going to have to resort to a PC card for FW.
