Change is bad? Change is good? Halo'ed icons as opposed to grayed and blocked out icons when they're selected? It's something Apple Programmers did to preserve the appearance of the icons from 10.2 to 10.3 -- I mean if you're going to have these beautifully huge icons (some very photo-realistic), why have them grayed and blocked out? So they put a halo around them and rounded off the corners of the highlight over the filename. What I don't like is that the halos of active files disappear when you select something else -- it's nice to have some indication that the folder or file is open. Don't know if there's a fix, but I'm sure someone will find it if it's a buried feature. I like the halos, by the way... I'm such a troublemaker! I use Panther (OS X.3) on all my laptops -- fan is fine and snaps on when it gets silly hot. Make sure you're following all the tips to keep your laptop cool -- place them on solid table tops, avoid putting them on carpets or tablecloths... etc. The better the heat can flow away from the bottom, the happier the PowerBook will be. - J _______________________ > The OSX 10.3 desktop icons acquire a square halo when highlighted.
