It could be a flakey ram chip. I'd recommend making sure they are both seated. If your laptop is still flakey, swap the chips. In my case, iirc, it wouldn't even boot. I was able to tell SmallDog what happened, and they quickly sent me a replacement chip. (I like SmallDog, btw)
