My Powerbook has finally been replaced through my insurer. I discussed this with the list in mid-November soon after its theft. While I could have obtained the replacement from Apple direct like I did with the original Powerbook, the insurer insisted on dealing directly with a supplier, rather than send me a cheque. I had discussions with the supplier about models, and availability, and eventually agreed on a 15" AlBook 1.25Ghz. He made the offer of 1GB RAM (my TiBook originally came with a single 512MB chip factory installed, to which I added a 256MB chip = 768MB); an additional battery and a 3-year warranty. May I ask the group for a reality check? If you were told your Powerbook was coming supplied with 512MB RAM, with an additional 512MB, would you expect it to be: 1. 1GB RAM installed - eg., 1 x 512MB factory installed + 1 x 512MB supplier installed? 2. 1 GB supplied - 2 x 256MB factory installed; 1 x 256MB removed, replaced with 1 X 512MB, for a total of 768MB installed; 1 x 256MB chip supplied in static-proof package.
