No, no, no... You shouldn't hold the reset button when resetting the
PMU. I know for a fact that this can cause the PMU to crash on a
desktop, and I believe it can do the same for a laptop (after all, they
use the same microcontroller from Mitsubishi for the PMU). Press it
once and once only for less than a second while the computer is off.
Wait 5 seconds, then power the computer back on.
Also, try removing extra RAM and such things.
Most of the newer portables don't have a PMU reset button; instead you
must press Shift-Control-Option-Power (but NOT Fn).
When you reboot, your date should have reset to midnight January 1 1970
(though this varies depending on the model computer you are using),
adjusted to local time.
