Setting prefs for that is the 'logical' equivalent of pissin' in the wind. I had a dream that IBM gave Apple a separate RS6000 for the chipset, whose sole duty was to run the Finder, with its own programmablity, dedicated memory, etc. (I think it was an older 300mHz chip, like in the multi-processor SGIs, heheh).
