If the Powerbook is out of warranty, isn¹t there some way to get these ports to work again? Isn¹t there a fuse or thermistor that you can replace? I know in some early powerbooks some ports fried and there was some way of bridging the burned out circuit with a fuse. It is interesting to note that when Apple repairs blown Firewire ports they now include an ESD protection circuit. Anyhow, I ran across this on a Google search: http://www.powerbookmedic.com/Misc_Parts__PowerMac_etc-p-1-c-416.html jg
