The word list is based on Webster's Second International (copyright lapsed in 1934, so, it's 'open' now) (234,936 words). Then there's the hyphenated dict (web2a), which includes nouns and adverbial phrases. Need a reference for names? Ha ha, you cannot do better than the 'propernames' dict (same directory as others) Have a look at /usr/share/dict Tip: don't open the files in Finder, too many lines/items, use a text editor (tex-edit, BBEdit, Rixedit, jEdit, etc) we're talking major league spell-checking. you want etymology? grab a proprietary dictionary. ~flipper
