This is a description of a "kernel panic' a very low level problem with the system. I used to have this frequently in the early days of OS X. Even in 10.4.3, it happens. I had one yesterday, when I plugged the USB cable from my eyeTV in to my Al-book. I heard the disks of the FW800 drive attached start to spin, and then the kernel panic. In most cases, the origin is unknown. But at least now yiou know what it is...... TREVOR
