Why UDP as a default? And whose 'defauts' are these, anyway?

You know, all the BitTorrent clients use UDP ports for the 'listen' 
end of the proceedings, so, maybe it's a little Apple infrastructure 
for the global QT watch TV?Movies juggernaut to be?
