Mine normally (SMART) is above 49° (120 F), probably more on the 130-140°
F range and the HD fan can be fairly loud when it gets to 140 and higher
-- over 5200 RPM .

My fans run differently now - less logically, maybe. Sometimes the HD fan
races when below 140 (SMART).

Switched mine to Automatic several days ago, but haven't noticed
temperature/fan change.

Lately, I will occasionally sleep mine. It gives it a chance to cool down
and makes me feel better.
