Regarding this 12-18 month lurk tactic: I don't know how this upgrade could be a big deal, we've already experienced a transition on a much larger scale when MacOS was euthanized and we upgraded to FreeBSD, a system that was designed specific for i386 architecture from it's inception.. And even then, while MacOS was being ripped from the womb, and mobs of Macintoshers carried their torches en mass to the Gates of Jobs, I certainly didn't wait in fear for a 12-18 month period to pass me by. I got right on the bus and never looked back. So, yeah, I'm gettin' a MacTel PB on day one. Lo
