This is definitely off-topic, but maybe some of you early-adopters can answer this question: Does anyone know what material (s) the iPod nano is made from ? As a professor of polymer technology (=plastics), I am interested to know if the iPod nano is made of plastics only, and if so, which ones. The TV ad (I have only seen it as a QT movie) seems to show the reverse side to be shiny/metallic, but that could be plated plastic. I want to create a lecture that has the following flow of ideas: the iPod is a step change in technology iTunes music store is a new distribution channel music will increasingly (and perhaps very quickly) be almost only digital the future of the music CD (polycarbonate) and the jewel case (polystyrene) is probably limited/reducing how plastics and moulding technology have enabled miniaturisation and functionality If anyone knows (non-proprietary information) who is moulding or making the iPod, or any clue about the material or design, I would like to know so that I can follow up myself. Offlist answers are also welcome. The lecture, as always will be prepared in Keynote® on my G4 Powerbook (so it IS on topic, in the end...!). regards, Trevor
