Show them >the damn product ... i.e. OS X My thinking was that many/most Mac people will look at the $799 IBM/ Lenovo laptop, admire it and figure the next generation from Apple will probably up the stakes for only a few more bucks. Also, they have an investment in their Mac software and experience that they don't want to throw away. If this $799 machine is so terrific, it's much more of a threat to HP, Dell, Toshiba, etc. (BTW, Apple's PowerBooks are also made in China.) Apple is putting their ad money mainly into the iPod and, from what I read, the halo effect seems to be working. If I were running the show I'd probably divert some of the ad money into promoting (ads and product placement) the iMac since it is such a beautiful machine.
