They signed an agreement to provide Office productivity software for the Macintosh platform in addition to purchasing $150 million in stock, and Apple agreeing to make Microsoft Internet Explorer the default browser on Mac. It also settled a long-standing dispute over Microsoft's alleged copyright infringement of Apple's operating system. The agreement lasted for five years and expired in 2003. -- Chris
