As far as I know, there's no way to upgrade video ram on the powerbook. As for 10.4, I tried it for a few weeks last year and saw no performance gains, quite the opposite. Dashboard eats up a lot of RAM resources! So I downgraded back to 10.3.9 wich feels snapier.
