Arne,

Did you replace the PRAM last time, I think
MacRecycling has them for a reasonable price.

My Merc sometimes doesn't want to start after being
closed, and sometimes if I close it and open it again,
it will wake up, or I have to use the enter key or
power button.  It does sound like yours is more
serious.
