Chris, you seem to strike me as a computer user whose opinion is based on theoretical knowledge rather than hands-on knowledge. I intend no insult by this statement as everyone does not have the occupation of working with these machines and chips day in and day out, so please don't take offense. However, I deal with these products on a daily basis and I can tell you that Intel offers the best support for their products, and their motherboards are laid out with features that offer great support and protection for whatever hardware you put in them. So while AMD may look like the better option on paper (less pipeline stages, etc.). They do not manufacture their own boards or chipsets, so their support is still subpar, and that's a tough one on top of their major heat issues.
