Mail collection bug

Hi Folks,

I recently experienced a Mail problem. I would always key 
'command-shift-n' to get my mail, but now have no response. Similarly 
when I go to the 'Mailbox' and select collect mail, it does not 
respond. However when I select 'Get new mail in Account X' and then 
select my accounts one by one, it works.

Any advice as to the sudden appearance of this bug?

Using 10.2.8 on PB 1Gig.
