[mac-wizards] StartupItems problems

Hi,

On my iMac 800FP, OS 10.3.2 I keep having problems with the StartupItems, etc.

Some of the items in the StartupItems folder start at startup and 
some never do. The StartupItems folder is located in the root 
library. Also the Date & Time loses the checkbox calling for "Show 
the date and time".

Is there a cure? Maybe a preference that needs to be dumped?
