That didn't help, but I did find a workaround. I had been trying to do a
"custom install" without Carbon Lib; when I did an "easy install" everything
went OK (aside from the annoying little Earthlink alias it put on my desktop
after I told it--again--that I'm not bloody interested). Installed right
where I told it to, in ~/Applications.

Now I haven't actually tried to *launch* it yet....
