Mail-app

When I use mail app in Jaguar, one of my email accounts has problems with
receiving. The account is access-4-less. There seems to a problem with the
port and permissions. I want to  eliminate use of the classic environment
without buying any new software at this time. I would appreciate suggestions
on solving this problem. I am going to check the access-4-less website for
clues also. I need to get all mail in one location and organize my
mailboxes.
