Problem with Virtual PC 5.0

Hello,

due to the fact that I take classes in "imperative programming" at the 
university, I need to install a Turbo Pascal editor and compiler.
All compilers, I was able to find were for MS-DOS only.

This would be no problem, because I have a copy of Virtual PC 5.0 
installed.
The program is fantastic, by the way, but one serious problem remains:

I cannot type certain characters like "<" or ">".
They neither appear in any DOS-Program I have tried nor do they show up 
in MS-Word for Windows (Office 2000).


Can anybody help me with this?
