Exporting QuickTime

I need to correct myself.  I'm trying to import an *mpeg* movie with 
sound into iMovie.  Exporting to DV (or any other format) loses the 
sound.  Any suggestions for importing the mpeg into iMovie with the 
sound would be appreciated.  Thanks.
