Just moved to Panther last night, and my impression so far: Very Nice! (Ti PB G4 550mhz) One application related question (to skip to the question, read the last paragraph): I installed a clean version of Panther by: starting up in OS 9, moving ALL folders and files except my OS 9 folder to a folder named ignore (OK, the installer won't install by folder name context, but so what?). I performed a clean install. Upon moving my various applications (Adobe Illustrator, Extensis Suitcase, Virtual PC 5, etc...) from the ignore folder to the new Applications folder, and launching the programs, I was prompted for my serial number. I was very careful to copy over my plist files, and any other related files so that I could avoid having to retype my SN's in. Thank goodness I don't use Quark 6! Since I had to drag out all my SW CD's, and get the SN's off, I have all my CD's in front of me. Is there any encrypted utility to keep these numbers in, in the even I have to do a clean install again? I would prefer a utility with a password. Also, how come the SN was not stored in the preference file? It was only an inconvenience, as on the PC side the whole process would be impossible. Thanks! John PS - Panther's contextual menus pop up fast!
