Hmm, I've had the opposite experience with Brother printers. We have a Brother HL-1270N, with PostScript, Ethernet, and no proprietary drivers -- just a PPD file that I copied from OS 9, and it works like a champ. I print to it from a desktop G4, a wireless iBook, and a couple of Windows boxes without any problems.
