Hi Aranzazu (and others). There are some iMac G3's that still require the "smaller than 8 gig rule." This is from Apple's support docs: Products affected Certain Macintosh computers that originally had a hard drive smaller than 8 GB and have subsequently been upgraded with a hard drive larger than 8 GB. The list includes: ▪ iMac 233 MHz ▪ iMac 266 MHz ▪ iMac 333 MHz ▪ Power Macintosh G3 Desktop ▪ Power Macintosh G3 Mini Tower ▪ Power Macintosh G3 All-In-One ▪ PowerBook G3 Series Thanks, John On Jan 16, 2004, at 9:21 AM, Aranzazu wrote: >> Right. im getting a new hard drive on saturday. its going to be an >> 80gb >> Hitachi 7200RPM drive. its going into a G3 iMac. i was told that >> anything over 8gb would have to be partitioned. > > Nope you can Just use that hard drive as one 80 GB volume. what you > are referring to is when 10.0 came out apple had said that IF you > partion your drive you must install OS 10.0 on the first 6GB of the > drive. > -- > From > Aranzazu
