Think of it as a standard, like the accelerator being on the right of the brake. It might seem nice to have things customizable without limit, but in practice, its not a good idea. Its a standard that makes things a lot easier if anyone else ever needs to use your system or figure out what's wrong with it, or write an installer that works on your system. Its a standard that's much bigger than Mac and much older than windows. Welcome to a real computer. If its any consolation, some of those folders (etc, mach, . .) are hidden in OS X. SR
