Hi Jack. I don't think this will work with two ethernet cards, as you described, but others may know more than me. I believe you'll need a router between the cable modem and the two Mac's, which is what I use. I use a Siemens but most routers seem to work on PC and Mac platforms as they are set up using your browser.
