USB Printer Recognition

I just recently got a USB printer (HP Laserjet 1200).  I run 3 G4s and a PC
into a USB switch.  It seems that if I switch G4s and forget to switch the
USB box and try to print, I get an error (duh!), but then when I switch the
box to the correct machine, the machine still does not recognize that the
printer is there.  What gives, how do I reset the machine, whatever?  With
the network printer it was a no brainer.  This USB thing has me pulling my
hair out.
