Blinking Shield Icon (Classic/Photoshop)

Hi,

I often get a blinking shield in the upper left hand corner of my screen,
right over the
old-style multi-color apple icon. Right now it's there in Photoshop. What
on earth is it?
What app does it belong to? What does it mean? I seem to be able to work
with it blinking,
and nothing untoward happens, but I'm dying of curiosity. And wondering
what I should
do.

This is on the G4/733mhz, running Jaguar, Classic, Photoshop 6. (And other
apps,
I don't recall.)
