Mail Attachment Issue

This has always bothered me, but every once in a while, particularly 
with AOL recipients, my attachments do not go through properly using 
Apple's Mail (both beta and 1.0). These are PC users I believe.

My workaround is to use Entourage X and set the encoding for Windows. 
Then they receive it no problem.

Does anyone else struggle with this issue? Is there any such selection 
to change encoding of attachments in Mail, or do I have to keep 
Entourage on my drive for just such cases?
