Apple's Mail - Insert text

I enjoy using Apple's Mail app but I miss being able to insert a text 
file's content in the body of my email. Have I missed something? 
Entourage uses an Applescript "Insert Text File…". I'm tiring of 
copying and pasting. How can I insert text, not attach or append a text 
file, using Mail?
