[X Newbies] problem with application windows

Sorry, I did misunderstand you.  But now that I do see your point, 
wouldn't a stuck option key on the keyboard cause other erractic 
behavior to occur since using the option  key with other keys is a 
keyboard command for different operations?

Thanks again for everyone's attempt to troubleshoot this problem.
