As OSX updates the 'Receipts' (which basically tells DU what 
state/stage the system is at) change. Run DU from the CD and it will 
see things wrong with the system because it does not 'know' about the 
updates. Rather like running Norton v 1 on OS 9.1, likely not a good 
idea. Times change. Technology advances.

I can't recall if this is the thread that I suggested before - Archive 
and Install
