I do it all the time to the iBooks here at work. i swap out batteries 
to the 50 i books here all the time.


But to answer your question about what to get an iBook or a Powerbook 
i would first have to ask is money an issue? if so then the only 
reason to get a powerbook over an iBook would be if you need to burn 
DVD's.... If money is no issue then GO for the Powerbook.
