Does "Software Restore" erase partition only or whole HD?

Just a small question I hope you can answer.

I have an eMac 700mhz, 384mb memory, system 7.1.4. I partitioned my HD 
into 2, a System and a Data partition.

My question is, if I used the Software Restore CDs to restore my System, 
(which is in a mess after I mucked around with it *_* ) would the 
Software Restore program erase only my System partition, or would it 
erase my whole HD?
