[X Newbies] sound control

thanks, Charles,
I did try your suggestions except I don't have another keyboard to test
that out. I can control sound in iTunes with its control and any other
application that has a slider and the keyboard keys look like they
are reacting but only mute works. There are no effects when I try to
lower or increase sound.This just happened recently as I was able to
control sound on the system with the keyboard not too long ago.
