Is the CD-R clean and pristine?  Or does it have a lot of dirt and
scratches?  Try cleaning it up a bit and see if it reads on your
desktop Mac.  If not, try it on another CD drive (e.g. an external
CD drive on your Mac, or on someone else's computer).  If it can
still be read, go ahead and copy the entire CD-R to your computer,
and then burn a new CD-R.
