Davis: On some Macs, having small non-Apple USB devices attached can cause this. I don't mean printers or scanners, but maybe a photo card reader? Non-Apple keyboard? Mouse? USB or Firewire external hard drive? Perhaps a list of your peripheral attachments would give a hint to some of the pros here.
